Bar Staff
Bar staff are responsible for all aspects or running a bar. This could include food and beverage sales, controlling stock, cleaning, cashing up and taking deliveries. Chalet Host
Chalet Hosts play one of the most important roles in running a successful chalet, as you will have close day-to-day contact with the guests. Duties include preparing breakfast, afternoon tea with home baked cakes and a three/four course dinner with wine. You are also responsible for keeping the chalet clean and generally looking after the welfare of the guests. The type of Chalet will determine how many staff are working in it, but it's now uncommon for there to be just one Chalet host if there are less than 12 guests in the Chalet. Most companies require relevant catering and budgeting experience, and will ask you to complete a menu plan prior to interview. The menus should be of a dinner party standard, offering good wholesome meals with a local flavour, but taking into consideration available food supplies and budgetary constraints.click here to view all Chalet Host jobs. -
Chalet Manager
Larger Chalets or Chalet Hotels often employ Chalet Managers to oversee the day to day running of the Chalet. You will need to have good management skills and previous experience in the hotel/catering industry. Responsibilities include management and training of large teams of staff, quality control and all health & safety aspects. Chef/KP
Some Chalets will want to employ qualified chefs to run the catering. This can include Head Chefs and Assistant Chefs and responsibilities are similar to chalet hosts whereby you need to provide breakfast, afternoon tea with home baked cakes and a three-course dinner or speciality dinner for guests. Responsibilities can also include, planning and costing of weekly menus, Ensuring the highest standard of food production, Controlling food budgets, Staff management of the kitchen team, including assistant chefs and kitchen porters, Health and safety aspects of the kitchen operation, Creative role and the design of "Speciality" meals, based on a theme or regional influence.click here to view all Chef/KP jobs. -
Ski Guide
Also known as ski host. This usually involvess taking the chalet guests out for the day and showing them some of the less well known pisted routes to explore the area. It usually also involves taking your guests for Après Ski. You will need to be a good skier or boarder and able to manage a large group or people, as well as ensuring everyone is having fun and skiing within their ability. Some countries require you to have a full local qualification to become a ski guide, especially if you intend to take your guests off pistes.click here to view all Ski Guide jobs. -
Driver
A lot of Chalets are located away from the slopes and require transporting around resort. Your role would normally be combined with another role such as maintenance person. You would also be expected to collect guests from the airport or train station and drive them back to the UK. You need to have a friendly and welcoming attitude and be prepared to work long days, especially at the weekends. Maintenance Person
You will be responsible for responding to and resolving maintenance issues in a property or properties on a daily basis. You will ensure your work is completed in a timely manner and to a professional standard. You will be keen to minimise the impact of maintenance issues on a customers experience and as such will have a proactive approach to personally identifying issues and ensuring these are rectified. Nanny/Childcare
The role of a Nanny in a ski resort is demanding but fun. Nannies organise indoor & outdoor play activities help serve the children's lunches and take older children to and from ski school. You will be looking after children aged from 6 months to 12 years. Employers normally want Positive and friendly qualified nannies, with a creative attitude to organising play activities for children, a happy disposition, flexibility, confidence and a good imagination are essential. You should have BTEC/NVQ/NNEB childcare qualification or equivalent, and experience at working with children. Resort Manager
Resort Managers are responsible for all aspects of the smooth running of a group of chalets in a resort. This includes providing information to the guests when they arrive, organising day out and après ski events, dealing with problems, and escorting the guests to and from the airport. You need to be self-motivated with a out-going personality, capable of working on your own or as part of a team. Relevant experience in a customer service environment is helpful. Stamina and enthusiasm is essential as you tend to work a 6/7 day week. In addition you need to speak French, German, Italian or Spanish to a good conversational level. Waiter/Waitress
Some Chalets have separate waiters/waitresses. You will be an important member of the team, as you will have the most contact with the customer during their dining experience, it is essential that you are polite, well presented and courteous at all times. Your role involves setting tables, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables and helping out in the kitchen.
