History of Avoriaz

The purpose built Avoriaz ski resort celebrated its 40th birthday back in 2007 and is well known for it's incredible futuristic style of architecture and town planning originally inspired by Juan Vuarnet - a French Olympian. Horse drawn sledges provide graceful transportation in this car free town making it a wonderful and safe environment for families. At 1800M Avoriaz enjoys excellent snowfall which often lasts until late into the season making it a great value ski resort. It is a snowboarders paradise, boasting the very first snowboard only runs, and now offering a fantastic variety of exciting and challenging pistes to suit every style and ability of rider, as well as a specialist park, a half-pipe, a slalom course and far-reaching off-piste.

Accommodation in Avoriaz

The stylish Avoriaz chalet accommodation is clad in wood and blends beautifully into the mountainside, yet it is quirky and diverse in design. Much of the catered and self catered chalets provide immediate access to the slopes and there are lifts in close proximity to a large proportion of the magnificent Avoriaz ski accommodation. Children are not forgotten and are welcomed into the popular ski school within the Avoriaz ski resort so that they can learn and perfect their skiing skills in a safe, but stimulating and fun setting. The evening atmosphere is ambient and there is a delightful range of cuisines available to suit every pallet. As well as international food, a selection of restaurants also serve tempting traditional dishes, and for that relaxing drink with friends there are a number of charming bars to choose from.

Activities in Avoriaz

The ecological snow park, known locally as The Stash, has a network of exhilirating black runs which beckons to the more proficient skier. Those looking for a more gentle skiing experience benefit from the extensive network of man made green and blue runs, all of which are set within the specatucular mountain landscape. And if you are looking for that little bit extra, the Avoriaz ski resort offers more than just the skiing so why not take time out to enjoy something a bit different in the form of quad bike riding, snowmobiling, huskey sleding, snow shoeing or climbing.
