About Morgins

Morgins

History of Morgins

The name Morgins is derived from the celtic word "Morga" which means limit, and dates back to the 6th century. In 1820, the first tourists were drawn to the health benefits associated with the ferrous water that still exists in Morgins today. The ski resort is situated within the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area and was the first Swiss resort to boast a direct link with Chatel back in 1961. Further links followed with the rest of the Portes du Soleil area in 1978 when Champoussin completed its lift infrastructure and this contributed to making Morgins the popular ski resort destination that it has become today. This endearing village has family appeal and offers something for everyone with its remarkable slopes set in unspoilt scenery alongside the dramatic Dents du Midi.
