History of La Clusaz

The charming village of La Clusaz is the largest station of the Aravis resort area and comprises of a great variety of well appointed ski areas built around a very traditional French Savoyard village.The name La Clusaz comes from the word "Cluse" meaning a narrow pass between two mountains and the village has succeeded in maintaining it's unspoilt and picturesque appeal making it a popular ski destination resort. La Clusaz is famous for it's tasty range of locally produced farm foods including ham, pastries and the Reblochon and Chevrotin cheese which is widely used by local restaurants. Situated just 20km from the stunning Lake Annecy, La Clusaz has become a popular weekend haven for those living in Annecy and Geneva, yet it's discovery by international tourists is only just beginning. With 132km of genuine varied skiing terrain both above and below the treeline set within some truly spectacular scenery, La Clusaz is bursting with a diversity of piste opportunities that will not disappoint any skiing or snowboarding enthusiast.

The sheer number of red and blue runs will ensure that intermediates are well catered for whilst expert skiers and snowboarders should head over to La Balme which has fantastic off piste ranging from the simple to the extreme.
